The Congress party accused the BJP and the Election Commission of vote theft and irregularities in the voter list and has launched the “Voter Adhikar Yatra” to highlight this issue (here, here, and here).. They uploaded a video on their social media featuring a Bhojpuri campaign song titled “Vote Chor Lagela”. This satirical track, based on the popular Bhojpuri song “Lollipop Lagelu”, criticises the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging manipulation and vote theft during elections.
Meanwhile, a video of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav playing the song “BJP and Election Commission Vote Chor Lagela” on a portable speaker is circulating widely on social media (here, here, and here), with claims that he played it during the Voter Adhikar Yatra. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows Tejashwi Yadav playing the song “BJP and Election Commission Vote Chor Lagela” during the Voter Adhikar Yatra.
Fact: The viral video’s audio has been edited to include a satirical parody Bhojpuri song “Vote Chor Lagela”, criticising the BJP and the Election Commission. The original video shows Tejashwi Yadav playing old speeches of Prime Minister Modi at 2024 Lok Sabha election rallies in Bihar to highlight unfulfilled promises. It predates the 2025 Voter Adhikar Yatra and is unrelated to it. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
A reverse image search of key frames from the viral video led to an X post by Tejashwi Yadav on 01 May 2024. In the post, he shared the same video and mentioned that a colleague had brought a portable Bluetooth speaker to an election rally, using it to highlight unfulfilled promises of the Prime Minister over the past 10 years. This confirms that the video predates the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, which began on 17 August 2025, and is unrelated to the event.
We also found several media reports on this incident (here, here, and here). According to these reports, on 30 April 2024, during the Lok Sabha election campaign in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav played old speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a portable Bluetooth speaker at rallies, including one in Madhubani, to highlight what he said were unfulfilled promises over the past ten years.
We found that the video shared by Tejashwi Yadav contains clips from multiple speeches of Prime Minister Modi. The initial part is from a 2013 speech where he criticised the then UPA government, highlighting issues like inflation in Delhi. Other parts are taken from his 2016 Goa speech related to demonetization, where he mentioned asking the country for just 50 days. Another segment is from a 2016 rally in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, where he described himself as a humble man, saying, “Hum toh fakir aadmi hain jhola leke chal padhenge ji.”
To sum up, Tejashwi Yadav did not criticise the BJP or the ECI with a Bhojpuri song during the Voter Adhikar Yatra; the viral video is edited.
