A post being widely shared on social media (here, here, and here) claiming that September 2024 will be special because each day of the week will appear exactly four times, which happens only once every 823 years. The post also suggests that sharing this message will bring financial luck. Let’s verify the claim through this article.

The archive version of the post can be found here.

Claim: In September 2024, each day of the week appears exactly four times- a rarity occurring only once every 823 years according to Chinese Feng Shui beliefs.

Fact: It’s common for each day of the week to appear four times in months with atleast 28 or more days, i.e., each and every month. According to”823 Years Myth” the months with five Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are rare, but they actually occur every year in a 31-day month starting on a Friday. For example, July 2022, December 2023, March 2024 and August 2025 fit this pattern. The myth is a misunderstanding of calendar patterns, and september 2024 is not unique. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Firstly, it’s not unusual for all days of the week to appear four times in a month. This happens in any month with at least 28 or more days. In other words, it happens each and every month. September typically has 30 days, so each day of the week appears four times, with two days occurring five times, depending on the first day of the month.

For example, in the years 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, each day of the week in September appears four times (4 Sundays, 4 Mondays, 4 Tuesdays, 4 Wednesdays, 4 Thursdays, 4 Fridays, and 4 Saturdays), and two days occur five times. Therefore, there’s nothing unique about this month.

The 823 Years Myth

The “823 Years Myth” claims that a month with five Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only happens once every 823 years, but this is false. Months like March 2024, August 2025, December 2023, and July 2022 all have this pattern. In reality, this occurs at least once a year in any 31-day month starting on a Friday. The myth probably comes from a misunderstanding of how calendars work. The idea of “silver pockets full” or “money bags” is also just part of the myth.

This claim that a specific month this year occurs only once in 823 years has been shared before with different months. Factly has debunked them previously (here and here).

In summary, September has 30 days, with each weekday appearing four times and two days appearing five times, depending on the first day of the month. There’s nothing unique about this month; it doesn’t occur once in 863 years.
