Claim: Visuals of Stampede at 2025 Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela.

Fact: A viral video shows a rescue effort after an accident in Pakistan on 11 January 2025. It is unrelated to the stampede that occurred at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela on 29 January 2025. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to the same video (here  & here) uploaded on several Pakistani Facebook pages since 12 January 2025, depicting an accident at Ambiri Kala Chowk in Pakistan’s Karak district. A comparison between the viral video and these Facebook videos reveals that the viral version is a flipped version of the original.

Further investigation uncovered the visuals of the accident uploaded by multiple users on TikTok and YouTube since 11 January 2025. Additionally, local media outlets were found to have live-streamed (here & here) the rescue operations following the incident.

According to these media reports (here, here, and here), on 11 January 2025, a container truck collided with multiple vehicles at Ambiri Kala Chowk on the Indus Highway in Karak, Pakistan. A passenger vehicle was pinned under the container and had to be extricated using cranes and bulldozers. The accident resulted in at least 12 fatalities and left several others injured.

Based on the evidence, it is clear that the viral video originates from Pakistan and is unrelated to the 2025 Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela.

To sum up, an unrelated accident video from Pakistan is being falsely shared as footage of the stampede at the 2025 Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela.
