A couple of videos are being shared on the internet with the claim that they show the recent Maoist attack at Bijapur in Chhattisgarh. On 3 April 2021, security personnel were killed in an attack by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.
Claim: Videos of the recent Maoist attack at Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.
Fact: The posted videos are old. They are not related to the recent Maoist attack at Bijapur in Chhattisgarh on 03 April 2021. While one video is being shared on the internet at least since 2017 as related to Myanmar, the other video is on the internet at least since 2018. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When the screenshots of the video were run through Yandex Reverse Image Search, the same video was found to be posted in 2018. Also, many similar videos were found to be uploaded on YouTube as related to Myanmar from at least 2017. Those videos can be seen here and here. No credible source was found to confirm that the video is related to Myanmar. But it can be concluded that the video is not related to the recent Maoist attack as the video is old.
When we searched with some keywords, the same video was found to be uploaded on YouTube back in 2018. Also, it can be seen that ‘Kalinga TV’ has posted the same video in 2019. As the video is also old, it can be concluded that this video is also not related to the recent Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh.
To sum it up, old videos are being falsely shared as visuals of the recent Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh.
