A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the visuals of a rally conducted by the Delhi residents supporting Delhi police and Narendra Modi government amidst farmers’ protests. Following the Kisan tractor rally violence on Republic day, this post is going viral on social media. Let’s verify the claims made in the post.

The archived version of the post can be seen here.

Claim:  Video of Delhi residents rally in support of Police and government amidst farmers’ protest.

Fact: Video in the post shows a rally conducted in Haryana during December 2019. This rally was organized in support of CAA and NRC laws passed by the Government of India. In the rally, protestors chanted slogans in support of the Delhi police and the Narendra Modi government. This video has nothing to do with the ongoing farmers’ protest against the new farm laws. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, we found similar videos posted on social media during December 2019. They can be seen here, here, and here. In the description of a video uploaded on YouTube, it is mentioned to be a rally conducted in Haryana in support of CAA and NRC acts passed by the Government of India.

Haryana BJP leader Jawahar Yadav shared the same video in a tweet posted on 26 December 2019. In the tweet, Jawahar Yadav mentioned it as the rally conducted in Haryana.

Based on Jawahar Yadav’s tweet, ‘Lokmat’ news website published an article on 27 December 2019. In the article, it is mentioned as the rally conducted in Haryana in support of CAA and NRC laws. We cannot ascertain the exact location of the rally based on the available evidence, but can confirm that the video is an old one and has nothing to do with the ongoing farmers’ protest.

To sum it up, an old video related to the CAA and NRC protests is being falsely linked to the ongoing farmers’ protests in Delhi.
