Old video is falsely shared as a deleted scene from ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie

A video through a post is being widely shared on social media claiming it to be a deleted scene from ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Deleted scene from the movie ‘The Kashmir Files’.

Fact: The video is being shared on the internet at least since 2019; it is not a recent video. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

When reverse image search is done on the screenshots of the video, a similar longer video was found on YouTube. The YouTube video which is more than a minute long was uploaded on 03 September 2019. Therefore, the video is old. The same viral video is being shared on social media at least since 2019 (here and here). In the video, the man with the megaphone makes allegations against the Indian Army in Kashmir.

While Vivek Agnihotri had first announced the film through a poster on 14 August 2019, the first schedule of the film that was set to start during the 3rd week of March 2020 was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All this indicates that the video shared in the post is available much before the filming of ‘The Kashmir Files’ took off.

To sum it up, an old video is being falsely shared as a deleted scene in ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie.
