Old video from Wagah border falsely shared as Pakistan supplying Oxygen Cylinders to India

A video accompanying a post is being widely shared claiming that ‘Pakistan supplying Oxygen Cylinders to India’ for COVID-19 infected patients with the help of an ambulance. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of Pakistan supplying oxygen cylinders to India for treating COVID-19 infected patients.

Fact: The video accompanying the post is an old video taken at the Wagah border. The video was uploaded by a YouTube channel way back in the year 2018, at a time when COVID-19 is unknown. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A simple google search with the key words ‘ambulance wagah border’ directed us to the screenshot of the video, on the google images page. On clicking the image, we were directed to a YouTube video uploaded by ‘hammad ali’ channel. The video was uploaded on 30 December 2018, with the title ‘Ambulance Exchanges Body at Wagah Border Pakistan’. In the description of the video, it was said to be recorded on 27 December 2018.

India is facing an acute shortage of medical oxygen amidst increasing COVID-19 cases. Over the past week, many COVID-19 patients have died due to the unavailability of medical oxygen in hospitals in a few states. Related news articles can be seen herehere, and here. However, the video in the post has no link with the current COVID-19 crisis as the video was recorded in 2018, at a time when COVID-19 was unheard of.

To sum it up, an old video from Wagah border is being falsely shared as Pakistan supplying Oxygen Cylinders to India.
