A video is being shared on social media with a claim that it shows a recent procession in Ayodhya demanding a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ (Hindu nation). Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of a recent procession in Ayodhya demanding a ‘Hindu Rashtra’.

Fact: The video is from a procession in 2018. The major demand was for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

In the posted video, it can be heard that the procession is being conducted under the leadership of Pravin Togadia. When searched with keywords, the same video was found to be uploaded on Facebook in October 2018. So, the posted video is an old one.

Many similar videos of the procession led by Pravin Togadia in October 2018 can be found to be uploaded by several news channels. Some of those videos can be seen here, here, here, and here. Pravin Togadia’s press release regarding this programme can be seen here. The major demand was for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya (This was before the Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir case, which was given in November 2019).

Also, when another video went viral previously with a similar claim, FACTLY has debunked it and written a fact-check article, which can be read here. However, the demand for a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ is frequently made by various groups. Some of those incidents can be seen here and here.

To sum it up, an old video is being falsely shared as a recent procession in Ayodhya demanding a ‘Hindu Rashtra’.
