Fact: Najma Akhtar, the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University, has clarified in a press conference on 16th December 2019 that none of the Jamia students has succumbed to injuries. While around 200 students have got injured in the protests, there are no causalities. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When searched about Shakir’s death on Google, a tweet by Yogendra Yadav regarding Shakir was found. In the tweet, Yogendra Yadav has clarified that Shakir is alive. Also, Mohammad Reyaz, an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia University, has posted on his Facebook account that ‘Shakir, the boy from Kota rumour of whose death spread on Sunday evening is alive. He was severally injured but is being treated in hospital’.
