A photo of an ‘Office Memorandum’ is being shared on social media with a claim that, as per the instructions of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has ordered the prohibition of Chinese applications from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. But, FACTLY has found that no such order banning the Chinese Apps from the Google and Apple stores was issued by either Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology or National Informatics Centre. Also, one can see that there are some errors in the order (‘MeitY’ written as ‘Moity’). The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has tweeted that the order is fake. The PIB’s tweet has been retweeted by both MeitY and NIC.
