Fact: On 9 November 2022, the UIDAI issued a notification requesting people to update their Aadhaar details if 10 years have passed since they received their Aadhaar card. However, they later clarified that updating is not mandatory for everyone, though it can help provide better service. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
According to the notification issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on 9 November 2022, Aadhaar card holders were requested to update their details every 10 years from the date of enrolment for Aadhaar at least once. This information was also shared on UIDAI’s official account on X.
However, after some news reports incorrectly stated that the Aadhaar update had been made mandatory, the UIDAI issued a statement advising people to ignore these reports and social media posts.
