After the Indian cricket team refused to shake hands with the Pakistan cricket team during the toss and after their matches in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 (here, here and here), a video (here and here) of Indian team skipper Suryakumar Yadav allegedly refusing to shake hands with the Bangladeshi cricket team captain during the Super 4 match held on 24 September 2025 is doing the rounds on social media. In the video, we see both the captains taking part in the toss, and the video ends when the Bangladeshi skipper Jaker Ali wins the toss and starts speaking to the TV presenter. We fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Indian cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Jaker Ali, during the 2025 Asia Cup Super-4 match held on 24 September 2025.

Fact: Suryakumar Yadav did greet Jaker Ali with a handshake and a fist bump during the toss of the Super-4 match. The Indian team did the customary handshake ritual at the end of the game with Bangladeshi players on 24 September 2025. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To check the veracity of the claim, we performed an internet search with relevant keywords to check if the Indian captain and the team skipped the handshake ritual during the Super-4 game with Bangladesh on 24 September 2025. However, we did not find any news reports to validate this claim. In fact, we found multiple media reports (here, here, and here) that said that Indian players did not snub the Bangladeshi players, unlike in the game against Pakistan.

As per these reports, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav shook hands ahead of the Asia Cup group-4 match. We found a few news reports (here and here) that contained a photo of the skippers of both teams shaking their hands.

Further, we found a photo on Getty Images of Suryakumar Yadav and Jaker Ali greeting each other with fistbumps before the match.

Furthermore, we watched the replay of the entire match on SonyLiv and found that the Indian team did the customary handshake ritual with members of the Bangladeshi team after the Super-4 match on 24 September 2025.

To sum up, the claim that Indian cricket team skipper Suryakumar Yadav snubbed his Bangladeshi counterpart during the Super-4 match in the Asia Cup 2025 is False. They both greeted each other with a handshake and a fist bump during the toss
