As part of three-nation Europe tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Germany. It is in this context an image showing Jawaharlal Nehru’s portrait on a wall in the room where Modi & Scholz were seen discussing is being widely shared. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru on the wall in a room where Modi and Scholz held discussions.

Fact: The portrait of Nehru is digitally added to the image of Modi and Scholz’s meet. The original image shared by Modi and PMO shows no portrait of Nehru on the wall. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

As part of his three-nation Europe tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Modi took to Facebook briefing about their interaction. He also shared images of their interaction; the viral image was also among those pictures. Further, the PMO Twitter handle also shared the exact same image.

However, in the original image shared by PM Modi, there is no portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru on the wall. A comparison of the viral photo with that of the one shared by Modi can be seen below.

This clearly indicates that the image shared by PM Modi is the source of the viral image and that Nehru’s portrait was digitally added to it.

To sum it up, image of Modi-Scholz meet with Nehru’s portrait on the wall behind is digitally edited.
