Image of a CNN report stating that vaccine administered COVID-19 patients eating others is digitally created

A post is being shared on social media claiming that hospitals in the US are in lockdown again as the first COVID-19 vaccine patients started eating each other. A photo with the CNN news channel logo showing an operation theatre full of blood is being shared as evidence. In the wake of dry run of COVID-19 vaccine administration in India, this post is being shared on social media. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: US hospitals under lockdown after first COVID-19 vaccine patients start eating each other.

Fact: Photo shared in the post is an edited one. The operation theatre in the photo shows the condition of a trauma bay in the US after treating the victims of gun violence. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the photo shared in the post, a similar photo is found in a tweet by a US medical professor on ‘02 September 2019’. In the tweet, he explains it as the picture of hospital operation theatre room after treating a gunshot victim. When we searched for more information using these keywords, a similar image was found in an article published by ‘The New York Times’ on ‘14 February 2019’. The photo in the article is credited to a medical student named Eric Curran and mentions it to be the scene from a trauma bay after treating the victims of gun violence.

A similar photo as shared in the post is also found in a meme creating website ‘iFunny’. This image is uploaded by a user named ‘flabbyankle’. From all these pieces of evidence, it is concluded that the photo shared in the post is an edited one.

To sum it up, an edited image is falsely shared as CNN news channel report on first COVID-19 vaccine patients turning into zombies.
