Image from Bangladesh is falsely shared as ‘Protests in Mumbai against the Citizenship Amendment Act’

A post with an image is being widely shared on Facebook with the claim, ‘image of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act at Mohammed Ali Road in Mumbai’. Let’s analyze the authenticity of the claim in the post.

Claim: Image of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act at Mohammed Ali Road in Mumbai.

Fact: The image is that of a procession at Chittagong (in Bangladesh) in November 2019. So, the claim is FALSE.    

When the image in the post is cropped and subjected to Yandex reverse image search technique, it was found to exist in a video on YouTube. The video was uploaded on November 10, 2019, and had the title in ‘Bangla’ and its English translation is- ‘Alhamdulillah, the Messengers of Allah in millions are celebrating the procession, Chittagong’. So, the image is that of a procession at Chittagong (in Bangladesh). It may be noted that “Milad-un-nabi’ was celebrated on November 10, 2019. 

To conclude, an image from Bangladesh is being falsely shared as ‘Protests in Mumbai against the Citizenship Amendment Act’.
