Fact: This video shows Youth Congress workers assaulting IDBI Bank Manager in Malkapur city of Buldhana district, Maharashtra. On ‘24 August 2020’, Malkapur city IDBI Bank Manager was assaulted by the Youth Congress workers for not sanctioning crop loans immediately to the farmers. It has nothing to do with the Shiv Sena party. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
On reverse image search, similar visuals were found in a video shared by ‘The Times of India’ news website on ‘13 September 2020’. The same video was also found in a tweet made by ‘Times Now’ channel on Twitter. In the video, it is mentioned that a Youth Congress leader along with his supporters assaulted an IDBI bank manager in Maharashtra. On searching for more information using these keywords, similar visuals were found in a video posted by ‘News 18 Lokmat’ news channel on ’10 September 2020’ on YouTube. In the description of the video, it is mentioned that this incident took place in Malkapur city of Buldhana district in Maharashtra. Local Marathi channel ‘7 Star News’ also shared a video with similar visuals. In this video also, it is mentioned that a Youth Congress leader supporters thrashed an IDBI bank officer in Malkapur, Maharashtra.
FACTLY contacted IDBI Malkapur Branch Manager Anil Sawle for more information about the incident. Anil Sawle stated that he was recently appointed as the manager of IDBI bank in Malkapur. Though he didn’t blame any political party for this incident, he informed that the former Branch Head was assaulted by a group of persons for the delay in sanctioning crop loans to the farmers.
When we contacted Malkapur Assistant Police Inspector Smita Masaye for more details, she informed that the Malkapur IDBI Bank Manager was assaulted by Youth Congress workers, not by the Shiv Sena party workers. ‘On allegations of delaying the crop loans to the farmers, Youth Congress workers on ‘24 August 2020’ assaulted IDBI Bank former manager in his office’, said Smita Masaye. She clarified that this incident has nothing to do with the Shiv Sena Party.
