Fact: This link in the post opens a fraudulent website. The PIB mentioned it as a fake website impersonating the Government’s official portal to register for COVID-19 vaccination. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
On 28 February 2021, the Government of India announced the COVID-19 vaccination registration portal ‘CO-WIN 2.0’. This portal was open for the general public on 01 March 2021 and can be accessed through www.cowin.gov.in. Co-WIN is a platform for Indian citizens to register for COVID-19 vaccination and schedule their vaccination slots at the nearest vaccination centres.
The PIB, through a tweet, clarified that a fraudulent website ‘https://selfregistration.preprod.co-vin.in/’ impersonating the official ‘CO-WIN’ website getting shared on social media. PIB mentioned this website as a fake website and informed people that any official information related to the COVID-19 vaccination drive is available on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website.
