A screenshot of a news clipping is being shared on social media claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ranked second among the top 10 most corrupt Prime Ministers list released by the Fox News website. The post claims that Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin were ranked as the top three most corrupt Prime Ministers in the world in a survey conducted by Fox News. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ranked second among the top 10 most corrupt Prime Ministers list released by Fox News.

Fact: Fox News did not publish any such report on the most corrupt Prime Ministers in the world. The report was released by ‘Fox News Point’, an unknown fake website that has nothing to relate with the US-based Fox News media company. The ‘Fox News Point’ website is now unavailable on the internet. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

On observing the news clipping carefully, one could see the ‘foxnewspoint.com’ text above the ‘Top 10 Most Corrupt Prime Minister in the World 2017’ list. When we searched for further sources using relevant keywords on the internet, we found that the report was published by ‘www.foxnewspoint.com’, an unknown website that has nothing to relate with the US-based media organisation Fox News, in July 2017.

The ‘Top 10 Most Corrupt Prime Minister in the World 2017’ report published by ‘Fox News Point’ had ranked Nawaz Sharif, Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin as the top three most corrupt Prime Ministers in the world.

In 2017, ‘Fox News Point’ published many other reports on ‘Top 10 Most Corrupt Politicians in the World 2017’, ‘Top 10 Most Corrupt Families In The World 2017’ and others. In the ‘About Us’ Section of the ‘Fox News Point’ website, it is nowhere reported that the website or organisation is in any way linked to the US-based Fox News company. The ‘Fox News Point’ is now unavailable on the internet. The website did not provide any details on which basis the ranks were assigned to these politicians and the survey methodology.

Fox News published articles on the most corrupt countries in the world based on the reports published by Transparency International and other organisations. But the report ranking Narendra Modi second among the most corrupt Prime Ministers was not published by Fox News. Reporting that the survey was published by a fake website, several news websites published articles in 2018.

To sum it up, this news clipping of Narendra Modi being listed as the second most corrupt Prime Minister in the world was based on a survey conducted by a fraudulent website.
