A video in which Modi can be seen clapping after watching Chidambaram getting arrested is being shared on social media. Let’s try to check the authenticity of the video in the post.
Claim: Video of Modi clapping while watching Chidambaram getting arrested.
Fact: It is an edited video. In the original video, it can be seen that Modi was watching and clapping during the live telecast of the launch of Chandrayaan-2 by ISRO. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When the screenshots of the video were run through Google Reverse Image Search, it was found that a similar video was tweeted by ‘ANI’ on July 22, 2019 with a description: ‘#WATCH Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi watched the live telecast of #Chandrayaan2 launch by ISRO, at 2:43 pm today. (Earlier visuals)”. In the video, it can be seen that Modi was clapping after the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2. The Chandrayaan-2 launch visuals coming on television in the original video have been edited to show the visuals of Chidambaram’s arrest.
To sum it up, it is an edited video. Modi was clapping on the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2, not on Chidambaram’s arrest.
