A video is being shared on social media with a claim that it shows All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party President and Lok Sabha MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal saying that India will become an Islamic nation in the future. In the posted video, it can be seen that he says– ‘Mughals ruled Bharath for 800 years. This country will be an Islamic nation…. In the whole nation, there would not have been a single Hindu. Everyone will be converted to Muslim’ (English Translation). Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.
Claim: Video of AIUDF chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal saying that India will become an Islamic nation in the future.
Fact: It is an edited video. The clips from the original video are arranged in such a manner that it conveys the wrong message. In the original video, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal says – ‘You guys know that this country INDIA is ruled by Mughal emperors for about 800years, but they didn’t’ dare to make INDIA an Islamic country……’ (English translation). Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When we searched on the internet about the incident in the video, it was found that Dr. Hafiz Rafiqul Islam, an MLA belonging to the AIDUF party, has already clarified regarding the viral video. He tweeted the original video and wrote – ‘Here’s the original video from where parts are clipped to make the doctored one’. Also, the longer version of the video was uploaded on YouTube in April 2019 with the title – ‘Maulana Badruddin Ajmal speech at Barpeta [ Sharukhatri Samasti #kayakuchi] M.P Election 2019’.
In the original video, it can be seen that Maulana Badruddin Ajmal says – ‘You guys know that this country INDIA is ruled by Mughal emperors for about 800years, but they didn’t’ dare to make INDIA an Islamic country but if they thought of doing so, they can do it very easily in that 800 years, there would be no Hindus. Did they do that? (Everyone chanting ‘no’.) So, they didn’t try because they don’t have that courage.’ (English translation). He also went on to say that neither British tried to make India a Christian country nor Congress dreamt of making India a Hindu Rashtra. The clips from the original video are arranged in such a manner that it conveys the wrong message.
Also, ANI has reported that while clarifying on the viral video, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal said – ‘This is 100% fake…..If you see the actual video you’ll find that I was asking people that when Himanta Biswa Sarma called me Mughal, I had said that Mughals ruled India for 800 years but did they even think of making India an Islamic state?
