Cadbury is not offering a free basket of chocolates to celebrate its 196th anniversary

A post sharing the link of Cadbury chocolate free baskets is being widely circulated on social media claiming that Cadbury is giving away 500 free baskets of Cadbury chocolates for everyone on its 196th Anniversary. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Cadbury is giving 500 Free baskets of Cadbury chocolates to everyone on its 196th Anniversary.

Fact: Mondelez India Foods Limited, the producer of Cadbury chocolates in India, has not made any such announcement of free Cadbury chocolate hampers. Cadbury had warned the customers not to be exploited by such phishing scams. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched for the information related to the offer of Free baskets of Cadbury chocolate, we found that Cadbury had clarified to ‘THE SUN’ that it is a scam and warned customers not to be exploited by such phishing websites. They also said that promotions of such offers will always be announced on Cadbury’s official channels.

Cadbury India Limited, a subsidiary of Mondolez International Inc., has changed its name to Mondelez India Foods Limited in the year 2014. When we searched for the announcement of Free baskets of Cadbury chocolates in the official website of Mondelez India Foods Limited, we do not found any such offers announced in the official Press releases of the company.

A similar claim went viral in the year 2018 that Cadbury is rewarding everyone with a basket of chocolate to celebrate their 194th anniversary. When a Facebook user alerted Cadbury on this, they informed that it is not Cadbury’s promotion and advised consumers to be careful while engaging with such promotions.

To sum it up, Cadbury is not offering any free basket of chocolate to celebrate their 196th anniversary.
