On 04 September 2025, Nepal banned 26 social media platforms, sparking youth protests from 08 September that left 72 dead and over 2,100 injured. PM K. P. Sharma Oli resigned on 09 September; Sushila Karki became interim PM, with elections set for 05 March 2026. The army was deployed, and compensation and medical aid were announced for victims (here, here, and here).
Amidst this, a video showing youths attacking a car with sticks is circulating on social media (here, here, and here). It is being shared with the claim that people in Bihar were attacking a BJP worker’s vehicle, drawing comparisons to the ongoing situation in Nepal. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

Claim: The video shows people in Bihar attacking a BJP worker’s vehicle.
Fact: The video does not show people in Bihar attacking a BJP worker’s vehicle. It shows a protest outside the Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) building in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Indonesia, on 25 August 2025, where protesters attacked and damaged the car of a DPR member. The demonstration was staged against the decision to increase lawmakers’ allowances amid worsening economic conditions. The location has been confirmed as the Gelora Bung Karno/DPR RI area in Senayan, Central Jakarta, and there are no reports of any attack on a BJP worker’s vehicle in Bihar. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
To verify the claim, we searched online for any reports of an attack on a BJP worker’s vehicle in Bihar but found no credible information or media coverage supporting it.
We then conducted a reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video, which led to several social media posts (here, here, and here) and a clip on an Indonesian YouTube channel, BangkusTV, that was uploaded on 26 August 2025. The video shows protesters attacking and damaging the car of a Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) member, Indonesia’s People’s Representative Council, during a demonstration outside the DPR building in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on 25 August 2025.

Using these posts as a clue, we conducted a Google search with relevant keywords and found multiple media reports (here, here) from August 2025. According to these reports, a protest took place on 25 August 2025, described by civil society groups as the Indonesian People’s Revolution. It was staged against the decision to increase DPR members’ allowances amid worsening economic conditions. As lawmakers arrived at the main gate, the demonstration escalated, with some participants taking shelter under a pedestrian bridge and bus stop, while several motorcycle taxi drivers joined in. Police later erected 1.88-metre-high concrete barricades at the entrance, causing heavy traffic congestion along Gatot Subroto Street.

We also traced the location to the Gelora Bung Karno/DPR RI area in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Indonesia, further confirming that the viral video is unrelated to Bihar or any part of India.

To sum up, an unrelated video showing a protest in Jakarta, Indonesia, is falsely shared as showing people in Bihar attacking a BJP worker’s vehicle.
