In December 2025, at least four killings of Hindu men were reported in Bangladesh within a short span of time. On 18 December 2025 (here, here, and here), Dipu Chandra Das, a garment worker, was beaten to death by a mob in Mymensingh following allegations of blasphemy. A few days later, on 24 December 2025 (here, here, and here), Amrit Mondal, also known as Samrat, was killed in Rajbari district after being attacked by a group of people over an alleged dispute. The third incident occurred on 29 December 2025 (here, here, and here), when Bajendra Biswas was shot dead by a colleague inside a garment factory in Mymensingh. Subsequently, on 31 December 2025 (here, here), Khokon Chandra Das, a Hindu businessman, was attacked by a mob in Shariatpur district, beaten, stabbed, and set on fire, and later succumbed to his injuries. These incidents were collectively cited by several media reports as a series of killings in late December 2025.

In the aftermath of these incidents, a video is going viral on social media (here, here, and here) claiming to show Bajrang Dal members entering Bangladesh and hoisting a saffron flag after removing a green Islamic flag from a pole. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: The video shows Bajrang Dal members entering Bangladesh and hoisting a saffron flag after removing a green Islamic flag from a pole.

Fact: The viral video does not show Bajrang Dal members entering Bangladesh or hoisting a saffron flag, and there are no media reports supporting this assertion. The video was recorded on Jail Road, Cuttack, Odisha, during a clash that took place during Durga immersion in October 2025. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords but found no credible media reports or reliable sources supporting the viral claim that Bajrang Dal members entered Bangladesh and hoisted a saffron flag.

We then conducted a reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video, which led us to an X post by ChotaNews App dated 06 October 2025. The post featured the same video along with other videos, and according to its description, the visuals show a clash during Durga immersion in Cuttack, Odisha. A fight broke out between two groups over playing a DJ, resulting in injuries to six people, including DCP Rishikesh Khillari. During the clash, stones were thrown, vehicles were set ablaze, and Cuttack police intervened to disperse the agitators and bring the situation under control.

Further reports (here, here, here, and here) state that the violence occurred in the Dargha Bazaar area of Cuttack in early October 2025, disrupting the Durga immersion process for several hours. Six people were arrested, and prohibitory orders, including a curfew under Section 144, were imposed in multiple police station areas. Police used CCTV and drone footage to identify the agitators, and internet restrictions were briefly enforced to prevent the spread of misinformation. The situation was later brought under control, and additional forces were deployed to maintain peace.

In the high-resolution video posted on X by Chota News App, the signboards are clearly visible, and it was observed that the viral video had been inverted. A Google search of “Renu Store, Cuttack,” whose signboard appears in the Chota News video, helped geolocate the location shown in the viral video as Jail Road, Cuttack, Odisha. The building in the viral video matches the actual location, as seen in the comparison below.

To sum up, an unrelated video from Odisha is being falsely shared as showing Bajrang Dal members entering Bangladesh and hoisting a saffron flag.
