An old video of a singer performing Gayatri Mantra at Holi celebrations is falsely linked to the swearing-in ceremony of the new PM of Pakistan.

A video featuring a woman named Narodha Malini Sahiba singing the Gayatri Mantra is being widely shared on social media. The claim associated with the video is that it was recorded during the swearing-in ceremony of Shehbaz Sharif, the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, who took oath on 4 March 2024. This fact-check article will examine the claims made in this viral post.

Claim: The Gayatri Mantra was performed at the swearing-in ceremony of Shehbaz Sharif, the new PM of Pakistan on 04 March 2024.

Fact: This video is from an old Holi celebration in Pakistan in 2017, and is unrelated to the swearing-in ceremony of PM Shehbaz Sharif. Therefore, the claim made in the post is Misleading.

To determine the authenticity of the viral video, we conducted a keyword search on the internet, which led us to a series of news reports (here, here and here) from 2017 featuring the same video.

Reportedly, the woman in the video is a Pakistani singer named Narodha Malini, who performed the Gayatri Mantra during Holi celebrations in Pakistan. The then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, was present at the event, as can be seen in the video.

You can view the live coverage of Shehbaz Sharif’s swearing-in ceremony (here). Therefore, it becomes evident that the video in question is from an event unrelated to PM Shehbaz Sharif’s recent swearing-in.

To sum up, the video featuring the performance of Gayatri Mantra is from an old Holi celebration in Pakistan from 2017. It is not related to the swearing-in ceremony of Shehbaz Sharif, the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
