Maulana Sajid Rashidi, a Muslim leader, was recently in Noida to participate in a news channel debate. On 29 July 2025, following the program, a group of individuals, claiming to be members of the Samajwadi Party (SP), were seen slapping him, accusing him of making derogatory remarks against Mainpuri MP and Akhilesh Yadav’s wife, Dimple Yadav (here, here and here). In this context, a video (here and here) of the incident has gone viral on social media. It shows an altercation taking place in a closed room, with men wearing Samajwadi caps attempting to intervene and stop the scuffle. The video is being widely shared with the claim that SP workers attacked Maulana Sajid Rashidi. Let’s find the truth behind this video.

Claim: The viral video shows Samajwadi Party (SP) workers slapping Maulana Sajid Rashidi.
Fact: The viral video is unrelated to Maulana Sajid Rashidi. It actually shows a clash between two groups during a booth-level SP meeting in Syana tehsil of Bulandshahr in May 2025, two months before the incident where Maulana Sajid Rashidi was slapped in Noida following a news debate. Hence the claims is FALSE.
To verify the truth behind the viral video, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes of the viral video, which led us to the same video uploaded by multiple accounts in May 2025, well before the incident involving Maulana Sajid Rashidi (here and here). According to the caption of the original post, the video shows a clash during a Samajwadi Party meeting in Bulandshahr, UP, exposing internal conflicts and a lack of unity within the party.

Further research led us to several news reports published on 30 May 2025, featuring the viral video and its stills (here, here and here). According to these reports, a clash broke out during a booth-level Samajwadi Party meeting in Syana tehsil of Bulandshahr, resulting in a physical altercation between two groups. The video went viral on social media, prompting police to take cognisance, although no official complaint had been filed at the time. Senior leaders, including Nirdosh Chaudhary, were seen intervening to defuse the situation before leaving the meeting midway.

Additionally, a keyword search related to Maulana Sajid Rashidi led us to several videos showing him being slapped on the premises of a news media studio (here, here and here). These videos are unrelated to the viral video from the Samajwadi Party meeting in Bulandshahr, confirming that the two incidents are separate and not connected.
To sum up, an old video from a Samajwadi Party meeting is being falsely shared as SP members slapping Maulana Sajid Rashidi over remarks about Dimple Yadav.
