An old bulldozing video is being shared as showing recent anti-encroachment drive by the NDA government in Bihar

A video is circulating online featuring multiple clips of bulldozers demolishing buildings and temples while local residents voice their complaints to the media. It is being claimed that the footage is from Bihar, where the NDA government allegedly began demolishing houses after winning the elections. We have also received several queries on our WhatsApp tipline (+91 92470 52470) asking whether these videos are related to the encroachment drives in Bihar. Let’s examine the truth behind this video.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: The viral video shows bulldozers demolishing buildings in Bihar after the NDA government came to power in 2025.

Fact: The viral video includes multiple clips that were already available on the internet months before the NDA government took office on 20 November 2025. It has no connection to the current Bihar anti-encroachment drives. Hence, the claim is MISLEADING.

On reviewing the viral video, we found that it is a compilation of two types of clips, one showing buildings being demolished while media personnel interview affected residents, and another showing temples being demolished.

To trace the origin of the first set of visuals, we conducted a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the same video uploaded on Instagram on 10 July 2025, well before the NDA’s victory in Bihar. The text overlay and voiceover on the video state that the AAP is going to raise its voice against the bulldozing, indicating that the clip was likely part of an AAP campaign. The video also displays a protest date of 29 June 2025.

Further investigation led us to the extended version of the first set of clips, uploaded on the AAP official X handle on 29 June 2025. The post was captioned in Hindi, which translates to: “An account will be settled for the tears of the poor. AAP will raise its voice for their rights against the BJP government demolishing the homes of the poor. To become a part of the public movement, all of you are requested to reach Jantar Mantar this morning at 10 AM.” This confirms that the video was created as part of an AAP protest campaign.

Further search led us to several news reports (here and here) about the AAP protest held at Jantar Mantar on 29 June 2025 against the BJP’s bulldozer actions across India.

To trace the origin of the second set of clips showing temples being demolished, we conducted a reverse image search. This led us to the same set of visuals (here and here), along with an extended version, uploaded on 27 May 2025, which also predates the formation of the new government in Bihar.

A keyword search regarding the government’s bulldozer action in Bihar after the formation of the new government led us to multiple news reports (here, here, here and here). These reports state that anti-encroachment drives have begun across the state. Joint teams of the police and administration carried out operations in Patna, Motihari, and Danapur using bulldozers and cranes. Similar actions are also underway in cities such as Samastipur, Sitamarhi, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Danapur, Lakhisarai, and Bihar Sharif, where both temporary and permanent illegal structures are being removed. However, the viral video is unrelated to these encroachment drives.

Additionally, the NDA government took the oath of office in Bihar on 20 November 2025. However, the viral video has been available on the internet well before the new government assumed office. Although we could not trace the original source of the individual clips, it is clear that the recent anti-encroachment drives in Bihar have no connection with this video.

To sum up, an old bulldozing video is being shared as showing a recent anti-encroachment drive by the NDA government in Bihar.
