A video going viral on social media (here, here, and here) claims to show a group of Muslim men waving swords, verbally abusing on camera, and later being paraded by the police while apologising for their actions. Claim: The video shows Muslim men waving swords, abusing on camera, and later apologising while paraded by the police in Uttar Pradesh.

Fact: The viral video is not from UP, and there is no communal angle. Bhopal Police arrested the individuals involved in a fight incident in the Habibganj police station area, where they were filmed abusing and brandishing swords during a parking dispute. The miscreants later apologised and vowed not to repeat their actions while being paraded by the police. The FIR revealed that the complainant and all the accused are from the Hindu community. TT Nagar police also confirmed that the miscreants were Hindus, refuting any communal claim. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to multiple news reports (here, here, and here) archived (here, here, and here) featuring the same video.

According to reports, Bhopal Police arrested the individuals involved in a fight incident under the Habibganj police station area, where they were filmed abusing and brandishing swords during a parking dispute. The police apprehended the culprits within 12 hours and publicly paraded them. The arrested individuals were identified as Akash Gajbi, Uday Sarathe, Akash Soni, Nitesh Jat, Lucky Sen, Jai Rawat, and Hrithik Valmiki. During the procession, the miscreants held their ears, apologised, and vowed not to engage in such acts or create similar videos in the future.

We accessed the FIR copy and found that both the complainant and the accused belong to the Hindu community, confirming no communal angle to the case. As per the FIR, on the early morning of 31 December 2024, around 2:00 am, the complainant returned home in his Scorpio car and parked it near Sai Temple due to a lack of space near his house. A group of miscreants confronted him, demanded ₹5000 for parking there, and, upon refusal, verbally abused him, threatened him, and broke the rear glass of his vehicle with stones.

Additionally, we contacted the TT Nagar police station in Bhopal, and they refuted the communal claim, clarifying that the miscreants were Hindus.

To sum up, an incident of miscreants with swords abusing on camera later paraded by Bhopal police is linked to U.P with a false communal narrative.
