A video going viral on social media (here, here, and here) shows TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh pointing at Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament and scolding him, saying, “You don’t know anything, sit down!”. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.
Claim: A video shows TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh scolding Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament, pointing at him and saying, “You don’t know anything, sit down!”
Fact: The video dates back to 01 August 2022 when Trinamool Congress MP Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar is seen addressing issues related to inflation. Parts of the viral video appear at different timestamps in the original footage. However, Amit Shah does not appear when Kakoli Ghosh points her finger and scolds someone. The clip of Amit Shah is actually from a 7 February 2022 video, in which he is speaking in the Rajya Sabha about the attack on Asaduddin Owaisi’s convoy. The viral video was made by compiling two different videos. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to the original video of the Lok Sabha proceedings on 01 August 2022, uploaded on the Sansad TV YouTube channel. In this video, Trinamool Congress MP Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar is seen speaking on issues of inflation. Clips of the viral video can be at different timestamps: at 3.05 minutes, at 11.30 minutes, at 12.30 minutes, at 12.45 minutes, and 13.00 minutes. However, at 12:35 minutes, Amit Shah is not shown in the original video when Kakoli Ghosh points her finger and scolds someone.
The same video was also uploaded on the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) YouTube channel on 01 August 2022.
Then, we took a screenshot from Amit Shah from the viral video and searched it with Google Lens. This led us to an original video on the Sansad TV YouTube channel, uploaded on 7 February 2022. In this video, Amit Shah is seen speaking in the Rajya Sabha about the attack on Asaduddin Owaisi’s convoy. The viral clip appears in the final part of the video at 3.40 minutes.
The same video was also uploaded on the Bharatiya Janata Party YouTube channel on 07 February 2022. This confirms that the viral video was made by compiling two different videos.
To sum up, an edited video of TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh scolding someone in Parliament is falsely claimed to show her scolding Amit Shah.
