A video (here, here,  and here) showing a hanging bridge between two mountains is going viral, claiming to be located on the NH-44 between Baramulla to Samba Route in Jammu & Kashmir. Let’s investigate the truth behind this claim.

Archived version of a post can be seen here.

Claim: The bridge in the viral video is located on the NH-44 road in Jammu & Kashmir.

Fact: The video actually shows the Beipanjiang Bridge in Southern China, also known as the Duge Bridge. In 2018, Guinness World Records recognised it as the tallest bridge in the world. The video has nothing to do with India. Therefore, the claim in the viral post is FALSE.

To verify the facts behind the viral claim, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the video. This led us to a Facebook video featuring the same bridge footage as seen in the viral video.

The Chinese Embassy in France uploaded this video on their official verified page. In the video, it is confirmed that the bridge shown is the Beipanjiang Bridge in China.

For more information about the bridge, we searched the internet and found news articles (here, here, and here) from Chinese media outlets, including ‘People’s Daily’ and ‘New China TV,’ discussing the Beipanjiang Bridge. According to these sources, the bridge stands 565.4 meters above the Beipanjiang Grand Valley in Southwest China.

Guinness World Records recognised this bridge as the tallest bridge in the world in 2018 (here and here). It is also known as the Duge Bridge. You can view the bridge on Google Maps (here).

Further, several (here, here and here)  bridges are currently under construction along NH-44 to improve connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir, with some already completed. However, none of these are hanging bridges.

To sum up, a video of the Beipanjiang Bridge in China is being falsely shared as footage of a bridge on the NH-44 road in Kashmir.
