A video claiming to show Indian soldiers stationed in the Siachen region is going viral on social media (here, here, here, here and here). Let’s find the truth behind this video.

Claim: The viral video shows Indian soldiers on duty in the Siachen region.
Fact: The video has no connection to Siachen. It shows a team led by Indian mountaineer Narendra Kumar climbing Pico de Orizaba in Mexico, which stands at 5,636 metres (18,491 feet). Hence, the post is MISLEADING.
To verify the claim, we performed a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video. This led us to the same video uploaded on 14 December 2025 by Indian mountaineer Narendra Kumar on his Instagram handle. In the post’s description, he stated that the video was recorded during his climb of Orizaba Peak in Mexico along with his team (@ruslan_gazonio, @pankuspan, and @alex.abramov.everest).
To gather more information, we conducted a keyword search and found several news reports published in December 2025 (here, here, and here) featuring the same visuals. According to these reports, a team of mountaineers led by Narendra Kumar from Hisar, Haryana, successfully climbed Pico de Orizaba in Mexico. Standing at 5,636 metres (18,491 feet), Pico de Orizaba is the highest peak in Mexico and the largest volcano in North America. The reports highlight that completing the ascent via the Jamapa Glacier route in harsh winter conditions is a notable achievement in Indian mountaineering. This clearly shows that the viral video has no connection to Indian soldiers stationed in Siachen.

To sum up, a video of mountaineers climbing Pico de Orizaba in Mexico is being shared as visuals of Indian soldiers deployed at the Siachen Glacier.
