A video of a paraglider crashing into an electric power line is being shared claiming the person to be the Hamas paraglider. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.
Claim: Hamas paraglider crashes into high voltage electric power line and bursts into flame.
Fact: This video clip shows South Korean paraglider’s accident near Seopjikoji on Jeju Island in South Korea. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
On performing a reverse image search of the keyframes of the viral video, we found that this video has been in circulation since June 2023. We found that the same video with the same claim was shared on YouTube as well as Twitter (here, here, and here). In the comments section of one of the Twitter posts, it was mentioned that the incident took place in South Korea.
Based on this information, we performed a relevant keyword search and found South Korean news articles addressing the same incident (here, here, and here). Jimu News published the news with a screenshot of the incident. A man got caught in a high-voltage wire while paragliding near Seopjikoji on Jeju Island in South Korea.
To sum up, a video of a South Korean paraglider accident is being falsely claimed as a Hamas paraglider crashing into a power line.
