Fact: The video shows a girl confronting 20-year-old Akash in Shuklaganj Bazaar, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, on 19 July 2025, for allegedly harassing her. He is not identified as Aleem Sheikh. Gangaghat Police confirmed that there is no communal angle to the incident. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to multiple media reports featuring the same visuals (here, here, and here). According to these reports, the incident occurred on 19 July 2025, in Shuklaganj Bazaar, Ganga Ghat, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. The man seen in the video was identified as Akash, a 20-year-old e-rickshaw driver from Brahmanagar under the Gangaghat police station limits. He had allegedly been harassing a female student from Juhari Devi College in Kanpur for several days. On the day of the incident, while she was returning home, Akash reportedly harassed her again near Neelam Sweets on Pony Road. In response, the girl confronted and thrashed him publicly. Locals caught Akash and handed him over to the police. However, as the girl did not file a formal complaint, the police booked him under Section 151 and issued a challan. Notably, no media report or police statement mentioned any communal angle in the case.
To verify whether there was any communal angle in the case, we contacted Gangaghat Police Station in-charge Pramod Mishra. He refuted the viral claim, stating that the incident has no communal angle. He also mentioned that no written complaint has been filed in this case.
