A video showing cars and trucks involved in a pile-up accident on a busy road, while onlookers watch in fear, is circulating on social media with the claim that it was filmed in India. A few other posts claim that it was filmed in the UAE on New Year’s Eve 2025. Let’s find the truth behind this video.

Claim: A viral video shows a massive pile-up of cars and trucks in India or the UAE on New Year’s Eve 2025.

Fact: The video shows a multi-vehicle pile-up that occurred in Fort Worth, Texas, on 11 February 2021 during a severe winter storm and has no connection to New Year’s Eve 2025, India, or the UAE. Hence, the claim is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we first conducted a keyword search to check whether any such pile-up had occurred in India or the UAE on New Year’s Eve 2025, but found no relevant reports. We then carried out a reverse image search on Google, which led us to an extended version of the same video uploaded in 2024 on a YouTube channel that shares vehicle accident footage. The video description states that it is a compilation of clips from a major pile-up that occurred in Fort Worth, Texas, on 11 February 2021, arranged in chronological order.

We then carried out a keyword search using relevant terms, which led us to multiple credible news reports about the incident (here, here, here and here). According to an ABC News report, at least six people were killed, and more than 65 others were injured in a massive multi-vehicle pileup involving over 100 vehicles on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth, Texas, on 11 February 2021. The accident occurred early in the morning, spanned nearly 1.5 miles of the highway, and left several people trapped inside their vehicles. Authorities stated that icy road conditions caused by freezing rain were the primary factor behind the crash.

According to NBC DFW, the accident occurred in a section of the highway bordered by concrete barriers, leaving drivers with little room to escape. Officials classified the crash as a mass casualty incident, deploying 13 ambulances and coordinating treatment across multiple hospitals. Along with icy road conditions, speed was also being investigated as a possible contributing factor.

Additionally, in February 2021, the United States faced an extreme winter storm, with Texas among the worst-affected states, experiencing freezing temperatures, power outages, and hazardous road conditions. Then-President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency in Texas on 11 February 2021, and state records show that the storm led to 246 deaths (here, here and here).

We also found multiple YouTube news reports (here, here and here) from February 2021 showing nighttime and morning visuals of the accident. None of these reports describes the incident as occurring in 2025, confirming that claims linking the video to 2025 are false.

To sum up, a video from a February 2021 multi-vehicle pileup in Fort Worth, Texas, is being falsely shared as an incident from India or the UAE on New Year’s Eve 2025.
