A video showing a massive rally is making the rounds on social media, claiming it shows footage of a gathering organised by farmers in Jaipur as a show of support towards the ongoing Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest. Let’s check the veracity of this claim through this article.

Claim: The viral video showcases a vast gathering organised in Jaipur, Rajasthan, supporting the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest.

Fact: The viral video has no connection with the 2024 Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest. It is from a rally held in 2017, demonstrating against the Rajasthan government’s policies related to farmers. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search on several keyframes of the viral footage, which led us to Facebook and YouTube videos (here and here) dating back to 2017 and 2018.

One of these is a better-quality version of the same video, which was posted on the verified Facebook page of the former Minister of Rajasthan, Babulal Nagar, on 1 July 2017. According to the post,  the visuals depict a rally held on 19 June 2017, in Jaipur.

This finding proves that the video, predating the conception of the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest on 13 February 2024 (here and here), has been falsely associated with it.

Additionally, we found a similar video on YouTube titled ‘Ex.minister Babulal Nagar rally at collectorate circle Jaipur.’ This video, uploaded on 30 June 2017, contains visuals similar to the viral video, and people in the video are heard chanting ‘Babulal Nagar- Zindabad’ slogans. This detail was confirmed by Babulal Nagar himself in an interview with Aaj Tak, where he acknowledged that the video belongs to a farmers’ rally organised back in 2017.

To sum up, the video depicting a giant rally is not related to the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest but was an event from 2017 protesting the Rajasthan government’s policies towards farmers.
