A tweet from a parody account falsely claims bomb test at a Karachi Mosque

A post is being shared by many people on Facebook that a bomb blast during a bomb test in a Karachi mosque has resulted in causalities and injured many people. Let’s try to analyze the claim made in the post.

Claim: Blast during bomb test in a Karachi Mosque caused the death of 15 Scientists and injured 10 people.

Fact: The tweet in the post is actually from a parody Twitter account ‘INA News’, which is an imposter account of India’s ‘ANI News’. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When searched in the twitter, the above-posted tweet was found in the ‘INA News’ account. In the account’s description, it was clearly mentioned that its tweets are only for Satire and Parody. So, the content of its tweets should not be taken seriously.

When searched for ‘Blast in Karachi Mosque’ on Google, many news articles related to the blasts in Karachi mosques appear in the results. An article in the NBCNEWS.com contains the image posted in the tweet. As per the article, dated 5th July 2004, in a suspected suicide attack, a bomb exploded at a Shiite Muslim mosque in Karachi, killing 14 people and wounding more than 200 people.

Finally, the tweet in the post is from a parody Twitter account ‘INA News’, which is an imposter account of India’s ‘ANI News’.
