A photo showing bundles of cash on a table is being shared online with the claim that the money was recovered from a BJP MP. We will fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Photo of huge bundles of cash seized from an MP of the BJP
Fact: The image is from an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on Congress MLA KC Veerendra (nicknamed “Puppy”) from Karnataka. It bears no connection to any BJP MP. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the claim, we performed a reverse image search on the internet. This search led us to multiple news reports (here, here, here, and here) featuring the same photo. They linked it to cash seized by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from the house of a Congress party MLA from Karnataka named KC Veerendra.

As per the media reports, the photo is related to an ED operation targeting KC Veerendra, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in illegal betting. During the raid, authorities seized ₹12 crore in cash, ₹1 crore in foreign currency, gold worth ₹6 crore, and luxury vehicles. KC Veerendra is the MLA of Karnataka’s Chitradurga assembly constituency.

The ED conducted searches at 31 locations across India, spanning Bengaluru, Goa, Jodhpur, Gangtok, and more, on 22–23 August 2025. Veerendra was arrested in Gangtok, Sikkim, on 23 August 2025.

We also found that the ED has posted a photo related to this operation on X on 23 August 2025, in which they shared the details of the operation. Visuals in one of those photos match the visuals seen in the viral photo (it’s flipped horizontally). No credible media report or official source supports the claim that this cash came from a BJP MP.
To sum up, the viral photo does not show cash recovered from a BJP MP. It was seized during an ED raid on Karnataka Congress MLA KC Veerendra.
