A video is being shared widely on social media with a claim that it shows the visuals of Air India Express flight just minutes before its accident at the Kozhikode airport. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Fact: The video does not show real visuals. It is only a flight simulation video representing the accident of Air India Express flight at Kozhikode airport. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On 07 August 2020, the Air India Express flight from Dubai slipped on the runway at Kozhikode airport and fell into the valley. Nearly 18 people lost their lives and many were injured in the accident. Further details regarding the accident can be read here and here.

On observing the video, it can be easily figured out that it looks like an animated video. So, when searched with the keywords, many animated videos which were uploaded as related to the Kozhikode accident were found in the search results. The posted video can be found to be uploaded on YouTube on the day of the accident. In the description of the video, it is mentioned that it is ‘a video simulation with real data of Air India Express flight 1344’.
