Fact: This video has been circulating on social media at least since June 2021. The video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with the Asani cyclone. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video shared in the post, a video with similar visuals is found to be posted on a Facebook page named ‘Andhra Pradesh Weatherman’ on 17 June 2021. This Facebook page had published this video mentioning it as visuals from Yarada beach in Vishakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.
But when this video recently went viral claiming it as from Machilipatnam, the same ‘Andhra Pradesh Weatherman’ through a tweet clarified that the video was taken at Kalingapatnam beach in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. In the tweet, ‘Andhra Pradesh Weatherman’ shared a screenshot of their Instagram post that shared the same video on 17 June 2021. A journalist from the ‘Suman TV’ news channel has also clarified that this video was taken at Kalingapatnam beach in Srikakulam. Though we could not ascertain the exact location of the place, it can be concluded from all these pieces of evidence that the video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with the recent Asani cyclone.
