A video is being shared on social media claiming it as recent visuals of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao calling himself the best friend of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his daughter K. Kavitha was questioned in the Delhi liquor scam. In the wake of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers recording a statement from KCR’s daughter in the Delhi Excise Policy case, this video is going viral on social media. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of KCR calling himself the best friend of Narendra Modi after his daughter Kavitha was questioned by the CBI in the Delhi Excise policy case.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows KCR’s interaction with the press on 03 March 2018. During the press meet over reservations in government jobs and education, KCR called himself the best friend of PM Narendra Modi and stated that he has no problems with Modi or any other leader of the BJP but is concerned with the slow progress and no qualitative development in the country. The video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with the Delhi Excise Policy case. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When we searched for this video using relevant keywords on the internet, a video with similar visuals was found published by the ‘NTV Telugu’ news channel on 03 March 2018. During a press meet over reservations in jobs and education, KCR called himself the best friend of PM Narendra Modi and stated that he has no problems with PM Modi or any other leader of the BJP but is concerned with the slow progress and no qualitative development in the country.

Responding to a journalist’s question to elaborate the agenda that Telangana MPs are going to raise in the parliament and in particular what problems he was facing with Prime Minister Modi or the Central government, KCR said, “As a matter of fact, I have nothing against Modi. I have all respect for him as the Prime Minister of India. I am his best friend also. People hardly know what friendship we have between us.” Reporting the same, several news websites published articles in 2018.

KCR called PM Narendra Modi a good friend on multiple occasions. But after the ED chargesheet named his daughter K Kavitha in the Delhi Excise policy case, KCR did not make any such statement again in any press meet. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with the recent Delhi liquor scam.

To sum it up, the 2018 video is shared as recent visuals of KCR calling himself the best friend of PM Narendra Modi after his daughter was questioned by the CBI i the Delhi liquor scam.
