A post on social media claims that automotive company Tesla is launching its first generation of satellite phones. The narrator of the video says that the name of this mobile phone is the Tesla Model Pi. The post description also details the specifications of this alleged mobile phone. Let’s fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Telsa is launching its new satellite phone, known as the Tesla Model Pi.

Fact: There is no official announcement from Tesla about the launch of their smartphone. Details about a rumoured Telsa Model Pi have been circulating on the internet since 2021, and the viral post shares these rumours as facts. Hence the claim made in it is FALSE.

To know if Tesla had made any announcement about the so-called satellite phones, we searched the internet for relevant news reports. This search did not lead us to any credible news reports. All reputed or credible news media organizations would generally report any such announcement from Telsa.

Articles published by ‘Tech Insider’ and ‘Life Wire’ (here and here) that mentioned that the alleged release of this Tesla Mobile phone is just speculation (it started with this video).

Tech Insider also mentioned that Elon Musk debunked these rumours by saying that smartphones are yesterday’s technology. You can read Musk’s tweet here.

Elon Musk recently tweeted that if Apple and Google boot Twitter from their app stores, he will make an alternative phone. He said this in response to a tweet by Liz Wheeler, which you can see here.

To sum up, Tesla has not officially announced the release of any smartphone.
