A collage of videos is being shared on social media claiming that a Palestinian blogger miraculously recovered in one day after being attacked in the Israeli bomb attack. Claiming the injured man as an actor masquerading as a Palestinian victim, the post states, “Yesterday, he was “hospitalized,” today, he is walking and walking like nothing happened.”. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.
Claim: Videos of a Palestinian blogger who recovered from the Israeli bomb attack in one day.
Fact: The persons who appeared in the two videos are different. The first video shows Saleh Aljafarawi, a video creator from Gaza, Palestine. He published this video recently on 26 October 2023. The other video shows old visuals of a Palestinian youth who lost his leg during a reported Israeli raid in July 2023. The second video has been circulating on social media at least since August 2023. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
Video 1:
On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, the same video was found posted by a Palestinian video creator named Saleh Aljafarawi on 26 October 2023. He published the video on Instagram stating- “For the first time in my life I witnessed a crime like this!! More than 30 missiles landed in front of my eyes. An entire area was wiped out.”
Saleh Aljafarawi has been documenting the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict in Gaza and published similar videos on his Instagram handle. A few of those videos can be seen here, here, and here. We could not find the second video on the social media handles of Saleh Aljafarawi.
Video 2:
On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, we found that the video has been circulating on social media at least since August 2023.
The injured individual can also be seen in a photo published by the International Solidarity Movement website on 25 August 2023. He is identified as Mohammed Zendiq, a 16-year-old who had his leg amputated during a reported Israeli raid on the Nur Shams refugee camp on 24 July 2023.
The TikTok account @hamode.zandek has been posting video clips of Zendiq’s journey since his hospital visit in August 2023, providing regular updates on his process of recovery. The latest video posted on this TikTok handle showed Zendiq with only one leg. On the other hand, Instagram posts from Aljafarawi’s accounts in October show him with both legs.
To sum it up, videos of two different individuals are shared as the visuals of a Palestinian blogger recovered from an Israeli bomb attack in a day.
