A video consisting of a series of three video clips allegedly showing the Hinjawadi IT Park in Pune affected by heavy rains has gone viral on social media. This video shows floors of office spaces and roads outside the office building filled with water and water leaking through the ceiling. We fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Viral video shows the visuals of waterlogging in Hinjawadi IT park, Pune.

Fact: The video clips show Kochi’s Infopark building affected by heavy rains, not Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a keyword search but found no news reports of Pune’s HInjawadi IT park being affected by such heavy rains recently. Incidentally, we found that all the video clips circulated in the viral posts were actually filmed in Kerala (here, here and here) during the ongoing heavy rains.

News reports from Manorama News and The Indian Express contained the same video clips, which described them as visuals shot in Kochi, Kerala.

Sharing the video clip, Indian Express reported that ‘Kakkanad in Kochi houses many IT parks and industrial projects, and is also a densely-populated residential area. A video showing water pouring through the ceiling of a swanky office space in Infopark in Kakkanad has now gone viral. The office staff can be seen scrambling to get out.’

Kerala was affected by heavy rains recently (here, here and here) which led to the Indian Meteorological Department placing an orange alert in seven districts of the State with a long coastline. This evidence makes it clear that a video of Kochi’s Infopark building affected by heavy rains is falsely shared as visuals from Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park.

To sum up, a visual of a waterlogged Infopark in Kochi is falsely shared as Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park.
