Fact: The video shared in the post shows dozens of Iranian protestors clashing with British police outside the Iranian Embassy in London. Anguished over 22-year-old Mahsa Amini’s death in Iranian custody, hundreds of protestors demonstrated against the Hijab policies in the Iran regime outside of the Iranian Embassy in London. The video is not related to the Hindu-Muslim clashes that broke out in Leicester after the India vs Pakistan match in September 2022. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, a video with similar visuals was found in a post published by the ‘News 18’ channel on 27 September 2022. ‘News 18’ reported it as visuals of dozens of Iranian protestors clashing with British police at the Iranian Embassy in London.
When searched for further sources using these keywords on the internet, and found that the same video was tweeted by the ‘GB News’ channel. ‘GB News’ through the tweet reported that at least five police were injured and 12 people were arrested after a violent disorder broke out during protests outside the Iranian Embassy in London.
Following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in Iranian custody, hundreds of Iranians took to the streets in their country and several other parts of the world protesting the Hijab policies under Iran’s regime. Iran announced the death of Mahsa Amini on 16 September 2022, three days after she was arrested by Morality police in Tehran. Mahsa Amini was arrested for allegedly breaking hijab or headscarf rules in public.
