A video (here, here, here, and here) showing RSS members marching with sticks is being widely shared on social media platforms, claiming that it depicts a recent RSS march (Path Sanchalan) held in Sedam, Karnataka, which took place despite police denying permission. The post reads: “1,500 RSS volunteers hold Path Sanchalan in Karnataka’s Sedam despite permission denial.” In this article, we fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: The video shows RSS volunteers marching in Sedam, Karnataka, despite authorities denying permission.
Fact: This viral video does not show the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) march held in Sedam, Karnataka. It actually shows an RSS rally held in Nagpur in May 2025. According to reports, the RSS did carry out a march in Sedam, Kalaburagi district, Karnataka, on 19 October 2025, despite the government denying permission and imposing police restrictions. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
To learn more about the viral video, we conducted a Google reverse image search using keyframes from the footage. This search led us to multiple social media posts (here, here, here) from May 2025, which contained visuals similar to those in the viral video, claiming that it shows an RSS march held in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
In May 2025, multiple media outlets (here, here, here) also reported that the visuals show an RSS march (Path Sanchalan) held in Nagpur, Maharashtra. An Instagram account run by RSS volunteers had shared aerial views of this rally held in Nagpur in May 2025.
Upon carefully reviewing the viral video, we noticed the insignia on the shoulders of policemen resemble those of Maharashtra Police. We also observed shop names in the background, including ‘Mafia’ and ‘Hitler’. Using these clues, we geolocated the location seen in the viral video on Google Maps. The location shown in the viral videos is Tiranga Chowk, Nagpur, Maharashtra. A comparison between the viral video and the location on Google Maps is shown below.

Additionally, according to news reports, the RSS held a march (Path Sanchalan) in Sedam, Kalaburagi district, Karnataka, on 19 October 2025, despite the government denying permission and imposing police restrictions. When RSS members began the rally without the necessary permits, the local police in Kalaburagi detained the participants, releasing them later the same day (here, here).

To sum it up, this viral video shows an RSS march held in Nagpur in May 2025, not a recent RSS rally in Sedam, Karnataka.
