Amid ongoing election buzz and multiple recent reports of bridge collapses in Bihar, a video (here, here and here) is going viral on social media claiming to show yet another bridge collapse that allegedly occurred recently in the state. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.

Claim: The viral video shows a recent bridge collapse in Bihar in 2025.
Fact: The video is from an older incident that occurred on 22 March 2024, when a bridge girder collapsed in Supaul, Bihar. It has no connection to any recent events. Hence the claim is MISLEADING.
While searching for the viral video, we found the same on an X handle, where we also found a clarification issued by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the video dated 27 July 2025. NHAI stated that the incident being circulated is from March 2024 and not a recent one. They confirmed that the Kosi Bakaur bridge is structurally safe and in good condition. NHAI also condemned the spread of misleading content that could cause unnecessary panic.

Further research led us to several news reports (here, here, here and here) from March 2024 that featured keyframes matching the viral video. According to these reports, on 22 March 2024, a span of the under-construction Bakaur bridge over the Kosi River in Bihar’s Supaul district collapsed, killing one labourer and injuring nine others. The 10.2 km bridge, part of the ₹1,700 crore Bharat Mala Project, is one of the longest in India and aims to reduce the Supaul–Madhubani distance from 100 km to 30 km. Experts and NHAI officials visited the site to assess the cause, while authorities assured compensation and investigation. These findings confirm that the video is from an old incident and is unrelated to any recent events.

To sum up, an old video of a bridge collapse in Bihar from March 2024 is being falsely shared as a recent incident from 2025.
