Video from Punjab (India) is falsely shared as a Sikh getting beaten in Pakistan

A video is being shared on social media with a claim that it shows the condition of Sikhs in Pakistan. In the video, a man is seen getting badly beaten by another person. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video shows a Sikh getting badly beaten in Pakistan.

Fact: The video is not related to Pakistan. The incident in the video took place in Punjab (India). Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched for the video on the internet with some Punjabi keywords, a similar video was found to be uploaded by a YouTube channel. It is mentioned in the video that the incident took place under Tibba police station limits in Ludhiana (Punjab).

The ‘Sikh Sangat Uttrakhand’ Facebook page has posted a live video on 05 March 2022 regarding the incident. In the video, the Punjab Police told the anchor that the incident took place on 01 March 2022 under Tibba police station limits. The FIR filed on the incident can be seen here. The person getting beaten in the video allegedly tried to steal a phone.

Some Sikhs are demanding action on the person who can be seen mercilessly beating the Sikh person in the viral video. The videos related to those requests can be seen here, here, and here.
