A screenshot of a Facebook post, purportedly made by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, is being widely shared on social media (here, here, and here). The post features an image suggesting that Ajit Doval expressed his views on the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), claiming that the RSS is protecting Hindus from Islamism. In this article, let’s fact-check the authenticity of this Facebook post.

The archived version of this post can be found here.

Claim: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval’s Facebook post expressing his views on the RSS.

Fact: The viral screenshot showing a Facebook post by Ajit Doval about the RSS is fake. NSA Ajit Doval is not active on any social media platforms, and there are no reports of Ajit Doval expressing views similar to those in the viral post about the RSS. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Firstly, this post was not shared by NSA Ajit Doval. In fact, he is not active on any social media platforms. Most likely, this message could have been shared by a random Facebook account being run in Doval’s name or the viral screenshot showing a Facebook post by Ajit Doval was digitally created. When ‘FACTLY’ previously contacted the Prime Minister’s Office to verify whether NSA Ajit Doval has an X (formerly Twitter) account, they confirmed that he does not have any official social media accounts.

We found several fan pages on Facebook under the name of NSA Ajit Doval. However, we could not find any such post on any of these fan pages, which indicates that the viral post is likely digitally edited and being shared to spread misinformation. During our search, we found a fan page with over one million followers that has the same profile picture of Ajit Doval as seen in the viral screenshot. Previously, a post by this account in August 2020 went viral, falsely claiming that Ajit Doval posted India Independence Day wishes with the Egyptian flag. Factly published a fact-check article debunking that claim.

We also conducted a relevant keyword search to check if Ajit Doval had made any comments similar to those in the viral post about the RSS. However, we could not find any reports of Ajit Doval expressing such views.

To sum up, this viral screenshot claiming to show a Facebook post by Ajit Doval about the RSS is fake; he does not have any official social media account.
