It is being claimed that according to this survey, the Samajwadi Party is predicted to win 17 seats, and the Congress Party is predicted to win 5 seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Uttar Pradesh. We fact-check this claim through this article.
Claim: India Today’s Mood of the Nation survey predicts 17 seats for the Samajwadi Party and five for the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Fact: The viral graphic is an edited screenshot of the India Today Mood of the Nation Survey News broadcast that was shared on YouTube on 20 March 2024 by India Today. In the original survey, the Samajwadi Party was predicted to win seven seats, while Congress was predicted to become victorious in one seat. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a keyword search on the Internet to find more details about the India Today Mood of the Nation Survey 2024. We were led to the original upload of this news broadcast uploaded on their official YouTube channel on 2 March 2024.
The viral graphic is a screenshot of this video taken at around 1:33:52 mark. However, the 2024 projections made in the original video differ from the viral graphic. In the original India Today Mood of the Nation Survey 2024, the BJP was predicted to win 70 seats, while the Samajwadi Party and the Congress Party were to win Seven and One seats, respectively. One can see the difference between them in the following graphic.
