These videos of journalists promoting an online mobile gambling application are fake

Another video of Managing Editor News18 Hindi, Amish Devgan is being shared to show him promoting an online casino app is being shared on social media.

However, the video is a digitally created one and is not real. Amish Devgan through his X account clarified that a deep fake AI video of his is endorsing a brand/scheme and that neither he nor his channel has any association with that brand/ scheme. He further stated that an appropriate legal action will be taken against the offenders.

A video of former NDTV journalist Ravish Kumar reporting about a widow from Mumbai winning 90 million rupees on a mobile gaming app is being widely shared on social media claiming that the journalist is now promoting online gambling apps for his benefit. A Facebook page named Teen Patti King Casino online mobile app published this video attaching the URL link of their mobile application. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows an edited video created by altering the audio of Ravish Kumar’s video on BJP leaders’ statements targeting former US President Obama in June 2023. Ravish Kumar through a Facebook post clarified that the viral video is fake and warned people not to fall prey to fraudulent online apps that use his photo or name in their advertisements. Also, there are no reports about a widow from Mumbai winning 90 million rupees through a mobile gaming app. Hence, the claim made in the post is False

When we searched to check whether Ravish Kumar had published any such video promoting an online mobile gambling application, we could not find any such video on his official YouTube channel. Also, we could not find any news report about a Mumbai widow winning 90 million rupees through a mobile gaming app.

On searching for further sources, we found the same visuals of Ravish Kumar, as shown in the video shared in the post, in a video published on Ravish Kumar’s YouTube channel on 27 June 2023. The original video shows Ravish Kumar speaking about conflicting statements of BJP leaders targeting former US President Barack Obama. The video shared in the post was created by altering the audio of the original video.

Lately, Ravish Kumar issued a clarification regarding this viral video circulating on social media. Ravish Kumar through a Facebook post clarified that the viral video is fake and warned people not to fall prey to fraudulent gaming apps that use his photo or name in their advertisements.

To sum it up, this video of Ravish Kumar promoting an online mobile gambling application is a fake one.
