A video (here, here and here) of Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General of Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, is going viral on social media, claiming to show him addressing an event. In the clip, Yadav is allegedly heard saying that the BSF failed to neutralise any terrorists, and further claims that the intelligence wing mistakenly identified cows, shadows, and even their own patrol teams as high-value threats. The video also appears to show the BSF IG stating that, despite monitoring 69 launching pads, the force detected no movement and that an estimated 100–120 terrorists may have already crossed the LoC into India, based on their latest assessment. Let’s find the truth behind this claim.

Claim: The viral video shows BSF IG Ashok Yadav admitting operational failures and stating that 100–120 terrorists have already infiltrated India across the LoC

Fact: The viral video is digitally manipulated. The original 1 hour 57 minute press conference held by BSF IG Ashok Yadav on 1 December 2025 contains no such statements. The audio in the viral clip is a deepfake, confirmed by AI voice-detection tools. Further, news reports covering the press conference also do not mention any such remarks. Additionally, PIB Fact Check clarified that Pakistani propaganda handles shared a doctored video falsely portraying his statements. Hence the claim is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search on Google, which led us to a press conference held on 1 December 2025 by Ashok Yadav, Inspector General (IG) of the BSF’s Kashmir Frontier (here, here and here). The full 1-hour 57-minute briefing, streamed by ANI, covered BSF operations, including Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack. The background and attire seen in the viral clip match this press conference, indicating that the viral video was taken from this event.

While reviewing the full streamed video, we found that he never made the statements claimed in the viral clip. Instead, at the 2:52 timestamp, he clearly states that the G Unit of the BSF is monitoring all 69 launching pads along the LoC, where around 100 to 120 terrorists are waiting to infiltrate, not that they have already entered India. We also reviewed multiple news reports on the press conference (here, here and here), and none of them mention anything similar to the claims made in the viral video.

Further, we investigated the audio of the viral video using the deepfake voice detector ‘Hiya,’ and it confirmed that the voice is a deepfake. This verifies that the viral video is manipulated, and at no point did Ashok Yadav make the statements claimed in the clip.

Additionally, the government’s fact-check unit, PIB Fact Check, also clarified that Pakistani propaganda handles are sharing a digitally manipulated video of BSF IG, Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, falsely portraying him as admitting failure in counter-terrorism operations.

To sum up, this video of BSF IG Ashok Yadav allegedly admitting failure in counter-terror operations is a deepfake.
